How To Take Territories

DIGGING DEEP NO. 933 – May 3, 2022
How To Take Territories

Jos 6:1-20

Taking territories i.e. our possession is an easy thing to do if ONLY we can do these three things.

1. Depending on the promise of God: Depending on the promise of God should mean Complete Dependence on His promise (Ex 14:14) He did not say we should help Him fight for us. He will do it with His methods and time, not our method and time, (Prob 3:5) simply put none of our business how, where and when He fulfills His promises which He will always do as long as we completely follow His instructions. (2Cor 1:20

God said to Joshua, see I have given into thine hand Jericho (Jos 6:2), for us that sounds really good that what is standing between us and the promise (possession) is being given to us. But then came the instruction on how they can obtain it. (Jos 6:3-5) a city that is surrounded by walls that are about 12ft high and 6ft thick. Keep in mind Joshua and the Israelites are not in possession of any sledgehammer, chipping hammer let alone jackhammer. It is not our place to figure out how to take possession. Joshua remembered that a couple of chapters earlier He divided the river Jordan creating levee walls with the very same water He divided using the priests’ feet carrying the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord. I would like to submit that Joshua thinks and trusts.

2. Depending on the Presence of God: (Jos 5:14) I have come as The Commander of the Army of the Lord of Host. Joshua had a complete understanding that all he needed was God to show up then the victory is not only at hand but in the bag. (Deut. 20: 4) The battle is the Lord’s therefore, all Joshua needed was to pay keen attention and follow to the tee God’s method and time. We sometimes get caught up in trying to strategize and analyze the solutions instead of relying on the presence of God (Ex 33:14).

3. Depending on the Prophetic voice of God: (Jos 6:20) It is very important that we understand His promises are yea and amen. (2Cor 1:20) (Gen 12:2-3) This does not make any sense to leave my terrain, my people, business partners, clients, and where everyone that knows me likes me. To a place where I don’t know and where people don’t know me. It only makes sense or easier for God to bless him where he is already established. But we shouldn’t forget that God’s specialty is in the impossible because His ways are not our ways (Isa 55:8-9 &11)

In conclusion: His name is Jehovah what He says He will do, that is exactly what He will do, if we follow His lead and not our own understanding (Prob 3:5)
