Christ is the living Stone upon which we build the foundation of our lives

DIGGING DEEP NO. 954 – October 4th, 2022
CHARACTER STUDY – You
Cornerstone or Stumbling Block – The tale of assistant Jesus?

1 Peter 2:1-10

Imagine a builder’s yard. The ground is cleared. Construction is ready to begin. There in the corner is a block of stone–dressed, hewn, and ready to be set in place. The builders have set it aside as inferior, not realizing that the architect has already chosen it as the cornerstone. It is meant to be the first stone laid, the one that determines the plumb lines and position of all the other stones in the building. The stone the builders have rejected is the most important stone of all, And so it is with Christ.

CORNERSTONE

Isaiah 28:16–17, Eph 2:18-19 The Bible was clear about who is who, on what/whose framework we should model our lives if eternity was a goal we pursue. The Bible was clear, Christ is the cornerstone on who we should build our life, the perfect framework we should model our lives on. Christ is the living Stone upon which we build the foundation of our lives (1 Peter 2:4). And as we come to him, we also are being built together into a spiritual house, or temple, for the Lord.

STUMBLING BLOCK

That stone in the middle of nowhere, whose only goal is to derail someone, its major purpose is to set someone aback or of course. There are certain people whose attempts at “spreading” the gospel have actually placed themselves in the position of a stumbling block.
