DIGGING DEEP NO. 990 – JUNE 20, 2023 CHARACTER STUDY – You/Me Why am I here?

How about we start with a question, Why are you here tonight?

In this current socio-political climate, it might not be as cool to tell people you are a Christian anymore, because some of the things that have marred the religion include miracle-for-sale ministries, judgmental sentiments, holier-than-thou attitudes, and us-versus-them arguments, amongst other things.

Today, we will be doing more talking and trying to figure out where we got it wrong and things we can do within our individual communities to set the ball rolling toward the kind disciples we want to be and also make.

Discussion

1. What/Where is a church to you?
2. Where do we blur the line between religion, community acceptance and culture?
3. If the bible was meant to define a way of life, a culture for the Israelites, why are we letting go of ours?
4. As Christians, we are known to have a verse or two to support our claims/acts, is that really wrong? After all, there is a scriptural backing to it.
5. In your quest of ChristianESS, are you making or marring disciples as you go?
6. Are you really Christ-like?

Conclusion

So, if you were to be asked, why are you a Christian, which of the following category best describe you;

1. Hand me down from parents.
2. Fear of hell/hope of heaven?
3. The hope of my long awaiting miracle.
4. I had the God experience like Paul, the disciples, women at the well, etc.
