The Seasons of Life: Trusting God Through Every Change

Theme: God ordains every season. He uses every season to teach, grow, and bless us. Wisdom comes from discerning the times and living each one purposefully.

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, 1st Chronicles 12:32, Psalm 90:12

Introduction: Understanding Life’s Seasons

To understand life’s seasons, we must know what season we’re in right now. Just like the natural world experiences seasons—spring, summer, fall, and winter—our lives also go through seasons. Just like nature, recognizing and embracing the season we are in is key to spiritual growth.  4 Spiritual seasons. Wilderness, Growing, Pruning, and Harvest. Each season has a purpose and something to teach us.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 — “A time to be born and a time to die…”

These verses remind us that God has designed life to operate in seasons. Some seasons bring joy, others sorrow. But in all of them, God is present, working out His purpose.

Spring – A Season of New Beginnings

Spring represents new life, growth, and opportunities. This is the time when God plants seeds—new dreams, new relationships, new ministries. Gen 41:1

During the seasons, anyone can be used to achieve God’s purpose. For example, The Dream by Pharaoh

Seasons are not always comfortable, but they are purposeful. Are you in a season where God is birthing something new in you? Embrace it with faith and obedience. Water your seed with prayer, and guard it from distractions.

Summer – A Season of Growth and Maturity

Summer is the season of working hard, staying faithful, and enduring heat. It’s the time of development and strengthening.

Galatians 6:9 — “Let us not grow weary in well doing…”
Proverbs 6:6-8 — “Go to the ant… observe her ways and be wise.”

In summer, spiritual growth can feel hard. There’s a lot of labor. But stay committed. The fruit is coming. Don’t let the heat of life cause you to faint.

Fall – A Season of Harvest and Reflection

Fall is when we see the results of our labor. It’s a time to harvest the blessings, evaluate where we’ve been, and prepare for the next phase.

Psalm 126:5-6 — “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.”
John 9:4— Even Jesus is accountable to times and seasons

Are you reaping a harvest right now? Be grateful. Reflect on what worked and what didn’t. Give God the glory for the increase.

Winter – A Season of Waiting and Rest

Winter is often quiet, sometimes lonely. It’s a season of rest, pruning, or even loss. But God uses it to deepen our roots.

Isaiah 40:31 — “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…”

Joseph – Gen 37-50 From pit to prison to palace. A season of rejection led to rulership.
David – 1 Sam 16, 30, 2 Sam 5. Anointed long before he was appointed. A season of waiting built his character.

Esther – Est 4:14 Her season of courage saved a nation

Winter may feel barren, but it’s vital. Use this time to draw closer to God. Trust that spring is coming. Even when nothing seems to be happening, God is still working.

God’s Sovereignty Over Every Season

Whatever season you’re in, God is in control. He doesn’t waste seasons. Each one is essential for your spiritual journey.

Romans 8:28 — “And we know that all things work together for good…”
Philippians 1:6 — “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…”

You may not choose your season, but you can choose your response. Trust God, stay faithful, and let Him finish what He started in you.

Conclusion: Trust God in every season

Ask yourself: What season am I in? How is God calling me to respond in this season? What does He want to teach me? Rom 8:28

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for every season of life. Teach me to trust You whether I’m sowing, growing, reaping, or resting. Help me to recognize and embrace the season I’m in, to trust Your timing and purpose and give me wisdom to act according to Your will in this season. And let me not miss out on my season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
