DIGGING DEEP NO. 892 – July 20th, 2021 Romans13:11-14 |
What a beautiful name our God has!!! It carries His power and integrity. It carries His personality. He has different names and we call Him His names based on what we need.
When we pray for provision, we call Him Jehovah Jireh, we pray for healing, we call Him Jehovah Ropheeka, when we pray for peace, we call Him Jehovah Shalom when we pray for sufficiency, we call Him El Shaddai We call Him His name based on what we are praying for. We do not switch it around. So, our God let us know how important a name is. Mathew 1:20-21 We see what Jesus means and in Vs 23, we see what His 2nd name means.
Our name is the greatest connection to our identity and individuality. As we just saw, there is power and authority in a name.
What is your name? What do people call you: You answer only to what God calls you because He knows you from beginning to end. You’re a child of the most High God and we should be aware of that at all times. People can’t see your seed of greatness and sometimes it’s people that love you that will give you the wrong name. In 1st Samuel 16:5-13, David was in the bushes when Samuel came to anoint him king. His father didn’t see much in him and so didn’t consider him important enough to come out of the field. but God named him a king while his father saw him as a shepherd boy. Sometimes even your teachers can put you down like in the case of Steve Harvey, or it could be friends if you’re not careful.
In the case of Jabez, 1st Chronicles 4:9-10, his mother called him pain, grief, sorrow, 1st Sam 4:19-21 the case of Ichabod. Sometimes you might need to change your name. Your greatness is in you, and you must see it. You are not what people call you, you’re what you answer to. Sometimes you might be blessed and have someone change that name for you before it sticks like in the case of Benoni in 1st Samuel 35:18. His mother named him son of sorrow, but his father named him Benjamin. Most names are given based on how parents are feeling or what they are going through at the time. Whatever your name is, what you call yourself or allow others to call you is what really matters?
Who do you think you are? Do you believe the word of God on who you are? Do you see yourself as blessed, anointed, prosperous, victorious, overcomer, etc or the opposite? The only thing that matters is what you believe you are.
Sometimes in life, we might need to change our names. It could be in reality, or it could be in your mind. When God created you, He created you in His own image. You have to call yourself blessed to be blessed. Call yourself what God named you.
God changed Abram to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah and that He did to show that He created them for a purpose. This He did even before the manifestation of the meaning of the names
What name did our heavenly Father give you? God spent a lot of time in the word telling us who we are. Our name truly follows us. He knows all that we will go thru before it happens. So, are you hanging on to God’s name for you in his words? There are so many of them, in John 15:15 He called you His friend, in 1 Peter 2:9 you are a chosen generation free so don’t let anyone put you in bondage by calling you strange names. In Jeremiah 29:11 plans to prosper us not harm us. So, no answering to any negative name like, pain, sickness, baren, fool, nerd or whatever it is that people say out there.
What is your family given name? Are you living up to that name? Is everything happening to you proving true to that name. Check out our name Praise Chapel, we are living up to that name Praise God. Our church is truly a church of praise. So, let’s all live up to our names, God has a great assignment for each of us. Yes we can!!!!
