THE POWER OF OUR WORDS & PRAYING GOD’S WORD
Key Scriptures:
Proverbs 18:21, Mark 11:23–25
God designed our words to carry creative power. Your mouth is not just for speaking— it is a spiritual instrument. And because it’s a spiritual instrument, when we pray and speak God’s Word in faith, we release heaven’s power on earth.
1. WORDS ARE POWERFUL — THE MOUTH IS A SPIRITUAL WEAPON
Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life are in the power of the tongue
Mark 11:23 – Whoever says to this mountain…
Jesus didn’t say “think about it”— He said SAY it.
Job 22:28 – You shall declare a thing, and it will be established
Many believers pray about mountains… but never speak to them.
So, the question is should we pray commanding and declaring prayers?
And the answer? What do you think?
2. FAITH SPEAKS — For this to happen, the mouth must be in alignment with the heart.
Romans 10:10 – With the mouth confession is made
2 Corinthians 4:13 – I believed, therefore I spoke Faith is not silent.
If you truly believe, you will speak.
Luke 6:45 – Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks
3. FAITH DECLARED BEFORE RESULTS APPEAR
Before David defeated Goliath, he declared victory.
1 Samuel 17:45 – “I come against you in the name of The Lord”
David didn’t wait to win— he spoke victory first.
Romans 4:17 God calls things that do not exist as though they did
IT’S NOT POSITIVE THINKING — IT’S COVENANT ALIGNMENT
God answers prayers not because we are positive… but because we align with His Word.
If we ask according to His will, He hears us 1 John 5:14-15.
4. Sometimes we Cancel OUR OWN PRAYERS WITH OUR WORDS
Many believers pray… then cancel it with their words.
Example:
Pray: “Lord, provide for me” Then say: “I never have enough” Matthew 12:36–37
Words can Build or destroy, release faith or fear and/or Create life or invite defeat
5. THE POWER OF Praying the Word IN IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS
Our words are so powerful that we can speak the impossible to become possible.
When we do, the inevitable happens. In
Ezekiel 37:4–5
“Prophesy to these dry bones…” God told Ezekiel to speak life into dead things.
6. PRACTICAL WORD-BASED PRAYERS
So many circumstances that praying The Word will produce miracles if we believe.
Healing: Isaiah 53:5, Psalm 103:2–3 “By His stripes I am healed.”
Protection: Psalm 91:11 “Your angels guard me and my family.”
Psalm 103:20 Angels respond to the voice of His Word
Wisdom: James 1:5 “I receive divine wisdom for every decision.”
Provision: Philippians 4:19
“My needs are supplied according to Your riches.”
Success & Favor: Joshua 1:8, Deuteronomy 28:8
“My work and business are blessed and prospering.”
7. YOUR IDENTITY MUST BE IN YOUR MOUTH
You must know who you are in Christ and truly believe
Ephesians 1:3 – I am already blessed 2 Corinthians 5:17 – I am a new creation
2 Peter 1:3 – I have all I need for life
You are not trying to become— you are declaring who you already are in Christ.
8. THINGS THAT COULD STOP THE POWER OF OUR WORDS
When we’re not sure of who we are
Doubt (James 1:6),
Negative thinking,
not believing God’s promises,
Speaking fear more than faith.
To make sure that doesn’t happen, we fill our heart with God’s word,
Luke 6:45 Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks
If The Word is in your heart, it will come out of your mouth.
Joshua 1:8; Isaiah 59:21 – God’s Word should remain in your mouth
So, to keep The Word in your hearts, you should,
Speak God’s Word daily, Pray God’s word daily, and guard your mouth (Proverbs 13:3)
And stay connected to The Holy Spirit.
We could also have Powerful Declarations:
- “My words produce life.”
- “God’s Word is working in me.”
- “What God has promised will come to pass.”
- “My mouth speaks faith and victory.”
- “I declare what God says, not what I feel.”
So, in closing:
God is faithful. He cannot lie. (Numbers 23:19)
His word is yea and Amen and His promises works.
The question then is not, Will God show up? Rather
Will you believe enough to speak, stand, and expect?
Because when
Faith + God’s Word + Your Voice
come together…
Mountains move.
