DIGGING DEEP NO. 898 – August 31st, 2021 Luke 17:11-19 |
To be ascertained that we are healed or made whole, we must be able to tell the difference between healing and being whole. In order to tell the difference, we must first understand the meaning of healing and being made whole.
1. What is the meaning of Healing? Healing is the process of making or becoming sound or healthy again.
Two things worth noting about the 10 lepers:
(a) The Lepers realized that Jesus is more than capable of healing them of their leprosy. (Luke 17:13) So they cried out to him for mercy.
(b) The Lepers also believe that Jesus has healed them when he asked them to go show themselves to the priest. (Luke 17:14) because they know that they have to be cleansed before showing themselves to the priests. (Levi 14:2)
The Bible makes numerous references about Jesus healing multitudes of people and that was it, nothing else was said about them. Like the nine lepers, they believed Jesus could heal them and He did but no mention of being made whole. Could it be because they felt it was their right? entitlement? more or less ungrateful? The nine lepers were cleansed and just went about their way. We all need one form of healing or another, some of us are in need of multiple forms of healing, healing of our spirit, soul, body, mind, heart, marriage, family, career, businesses, finances, etc.
Praise Chapel God is very willing and able to heal us, but what do we do after He heals us? Are we seeking to be made whole?
2. What is to be made whole? To be made whole is not taking God’s mercy and compassion for granted, but to take the next step of genuine gratitude and devotion to God (Luke 17:15-16). Because every complete and perfect gift (Healings) comes from above (James 1:17)
What is preventing us from being made whole? Does being familiar with God rob us of being made whole?
Two quick notes of the leper that was made whole
(a) He was a Samaritan (a product of rebellious Jews and pagans) He recognized that, full mercy of God, and that anyone but him deserves it. (Luke 17:16b)
(b) He recognized that gratitude will make his healing permanent, so he ran back to Jesus and fell down on his face at the feet of Jesus giving thanks. (Luke 17:15) Being made whole is when we recognize the source of our healing. To be whole is to be in an unbroken or undamaged state in one piece.
Conclusion
Praise Chapel healing when complete is wholeness. Wholeness does not happen until we returned to the source with gratitude (Luke 17:15-19)

We should have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
We should always show gratitude.
