MEMORY VERSE: “Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all, to stand.” Eph. 6: 13
LESSON TEXT: Jam. 1: 13-15
INTRODUCTION
Life is about battle; Christians are therefore called soldiers of Christ. God wants all His children to keep standing even on the battlefield.
He does not want us to fall. Why do people fall and who is responsible for a fall? How can we avoid a fall and keep standing?
These and many other questions will be answered in this study in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
LESSON OUTLINES
A. ENOUGH GUIDES TO STAND
B. SOME REASONS WHY PEOPLE FALL
ENOUGH GUIDES TO STAND
Though the road is narrow with obstacles on the way but God is able to keep to the end, Heb. 7: 19-26.
He guides His children and does not want us to fall, Ps. 125: 2. He gives His word to avoid a fall, Ps. 119: 105; Pr. 6: 23; 2 Pet. 1: 19.
The Holy Spirit is a guide for children of God, John 16: 13.
There are examples of people and experiences in the Bible to learn from, 1 Thess. 4: 1; I Cor. 10: 5-12; Rom. 15: 4.
SOME REASONS WHY PEOPLE FALL
There are several reasons why people fall and they include:
· Failure to assemble with other children of God, Heb. 10: 25
· Bad company, Ps 1: 1; Pr. 21: 16; 1 Kings 11: 4
· Over Confidence, 1 Cor. 10: 12; 2 Sam. 11: 1-2; Phi. 3: 15-16; Ref. 2 Sam 11: 1-2
· Holding on to weights, Heb. 12: 1-2; I Pet. 2: 11; 1 Cor. 9: 27; 1 Sam. 17: 39
· Love for God becomes cold, Matt. 24: 12; Rev. 4: 4
· Looking and holding on to worldly success, 2 Chr. 25: 2; 25: 14
· Love of the world, 2 Tim 4: 10
· Failure to put on the whole armor of God, Eph. 6: 13-18
· Failure to continue in prayer
CONCLUSION
There are people who stood firm in spite of all problems, distractions and obstacles of the world.
We should watch and pray, renewing our minds daily by the Word, Rom. 12: 1.
Remember that it is by God’s grace that we are what we are. God is willing and able to uphold to the end.
